I’m not asking for money just for the sake of it. There is a plan to all this, just like like any small business. I have my eyes set already on the equipment and tools I will need to make this endeavour a reality, and to show you all here is a list of products that will get me started and why I need them.
Live Performance Equipment
Portable PA System
The Europort EPA900 is the perfect setup for a solo show. It packs a bunch, is lightweight and portable, and versatile enough to be able to handle the setup I require, with DI guitars and backing tracks.
Guitar Multi-FX / Preamp
This is a dual purpose item. The POD X3 is fantastic for using live and not needing to lug around an additional guitar amp, it will go straight into the PA. But it can also be used for studio applications and plugs directly into my main choice of software – Reason + Record to use as an amp sim.
Laptop Computer
This will be needed to connect to the PA to run my backing tracks and to live stream my performances.
Studio Equipment
DAW Software
The Reason 5 + Record 1.5 software has just been released, and from all the videos I have seen, it has definitely been created with the creative musician in mind. I’ll be honest, most of the software I have used previously has been pirated, and the result of that is buggy, crashing and not quite right performance. I want to do this properly, and that means dropping the cash for the real deal.
COMPLETE – I have Reason 6 and am having a blast using it.
Hardware Controllers
There are few options here, but my main need is for drum programming. And seeing as I am going with Reason above, the natural choice is to go with the Korg Pad Control to control Reason’s Korg Drum Creator.
Repairs
Equipment that I already have needs repairs. The most urgent are my guitars.
Epiphone Les Paul
Sunny – Needs all the wiring redone, pots replaced and a new bridge installed.
Epiphone Les Paul Goth Series
Lilith – Needs a new bridge and the wiring replaced, possibly new pots as well. A new tone switch is also required.
Squire Telecaster
Honey – needs a full set up service done.
PRS SE Singlecut I
Midnight – Major work. Bridge replaced with Gibson style stop tail piece system as the wood is damaged under the bridge posts.
